I’ve been studying a degree in Chemistry for the last few years, and to most, that comes as a surprise. (I don’t have aspirations to become a doctor or a researcher). Hell, it even comes as a surprise to me. In High School, Chemistry was my least favourite subject (and lowest mark).
So why Chemistry? What I usually say is “it was an accident.” But what’s so accidental about organic chemistry, thermodynamics and differential equations?
A better word is residual. My Chemistry major was the residual of a different, bigger, and more crucial quest: becoming someone who faces feelings of intimidation.
